Marriages end for a number of reasons — infidelity, financial challenges, and a lack of common values are three of the most common, but a new report suggests your career may play a role too.
With the help of data collected during the 2015 American Community Survey, writer Nathan Yau has designed an interesting infographic that illustrates which professions are more likely to have their marriages end in divorce. Casino gaming managers and bartenders top the list, but flight attendants, switchboard operators, and telemarketers follow close behind.
On the other end of the spectrum are careers paths that rarely lead to divorce. These professions include dentists, scientists, software developers, and physical therapists. In some cases, these professions are 20 percent below the national average. This research in no way confirms what the future holds for your relationship, but it is interesting that some jobs are at higher risk in terms of relationship failure than others. Some experts speculate that environments with alcohol, entertainment or constant travel are responsible, but without further data this is pure conjecture.
